WINE for Android is Coming...

WINdows Emulator popularly known as WINE is an open source software / application through which one can run applications designed for windows such as games etc. on Unix systems such as Linux OS, FreeBSD, Solaris etc. Wine was originally developed by Alexandre Julliard, of Codeweavers. Now WINE for Android is also in its Development phase.

WINE for Android

Wine was ported to Google’s mobile operating system by Alexandre Julliard. Alexandre Julliard also showed wine running on Android on Sunday at FOSDEM in Brussels. The initial runs were pretty slow but according to Phoronix it was slow because Wine was run on an emulated Android environment and should run properly on an Android System. According to Phoronix Jullian used an Apple Macbook for the development of his software WINE (which runs on Linux to run Windows Applications on it) And thus Android was emulated for giving this demo.

While Jullian has a working version / Prototype of Wine but as of now it won’t be released because it is still in its early development stage. Android users have been demanding for WINE for Android for many years now and now this seems to be possible with the test run of Wine for Android.
Now we need to wait for team Jullian to complete their project and you will be able to run Windows Apps on your Android device.
We will keep a close eye on this project and will keep you updated with the latest happenings about wine. Do tell us about your thoughts on WINE for Android by your comments. Happy Browsing..
