Free Talk-time for signing up on Facebook

Facebook recently crossed 1 billion users mark. And due to it Facebook’s growth has decreased a little bit in Developed countries like USA. So now Facebook is trying to attract users from countries like India because it wants more people to join Facebook. Facebook is offering people Rs. 50 free talk-time for signing up on Facebook using his/her mobile phone.

Note: You won’t get free Talk-time for signing up on Facebook if you are already on Facebook. This offer is for new users only who will sign up from their mobiles.

To get the free talk-time go to this link from your mobile and register: http://m.facebook.com/tt. If you use normal process of signing up you won’t get the free talk-time. Here is a screenshot of the window which opens up when you click on the link above:

For Free Talk-time for signing up on Facebook  users will have to provide their own mobile no. and that of the person who invited you(this is optional). The registration is very simple and you only need to provide basic information like name, gender, date of birth, etc. (It may not ask even for your email address). Once this process gets completed Facebook sends a verification code to the mobile no. which you have registered in the previous step.
Facebook says that after signing up you will get the free talk-time within 3 days of signing up and confirming your mobile no. I have already applied for it but haven’t got the talk-time yet but its because it hasn’t been 3 days of registering .
But why is it offering Free Talk-time for signing up on Facebook
There may be a few reasons behind it. First of all the growth of  Facebook has reached a saturation level in Developed countries. So now Facebook is moving to developing countries like India where internet users are increasing day by day.
Secondly , nowadays the use of mobiles for surfing the net is increasing day by day due to decreased data rates, 3G rates and all. So mobile net users are increasing day by day. Thus Facebook wants to attract mobile users who browse the net from their mobiles.
