Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – Specs, Features and Availability !

>> Design

In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 takes off where the Note 2 left. At 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm, the dimensions are almost the same as its predecessor, but the weight has been reduced to 168 grams from 183 grams. The construction of the phone is done entirely using polycarbonate, but the Korean company has incorporated subtle changes to give it a more premium feel. The frame around the edges has a faux-metal finish and the back panel has a faux-leather finish which results in a more attractive and premium handset. The textured finish at the back offers excellent grip and also helps prevent fingerprint smudges. The front is covered with a 5.7 inches Super AMOLED touchscreen panel which has a resolution of 1080 X 1920 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The pixel density clocks in at 386 pixels per inch, which is excellent for a phablet.

>> Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 sports an upgraded 13 megapixel camera with built-in image stabilization and LED flash. It can be used to capture stunning photos of up to a maximum resolution of 4128 x 3096 pixels and record videos of up to 2160p @ 30 frames per second. The camera interface is the same as the one available on the Galaxy S4, so you’ll be able to capture still shots as well as shoot videos simultaneously without having to switch modes. Other features include face detection, geo-tagging, Dual Shot, HDR Mode, Smile Shutter, touch-focus, Eraser Mode, Sound & Shot, Beauty Face, Best Photo, Burst Mode and much more. The secondary camera has a 2 megapixel sensor which facilitates 1080p HD video recording, video calls and self-shots.

>> Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with four cores running at 2.3 GHz and 3 GB of RAM. It also has an Adreno 330 GPU for handling graphics and 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB of internal memory. The memory capacity of the phone is further expandable by up to 64 GB with the help of an external microSD card. In some regions, the phablet will be powered by a Exynos 5 Octa chipset with two Cortex quad-core processors and a Mali-T628 MP6 GPU. On the software front, you get the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system with a custom skin of Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface. Like always, Samsung has included a wide range of exclusive software enhancements and apps to deliver a rich software experience. These include the S Apps like S Voice, S Drive, S Planner, S Note, S Translate, S Health and others. You also get access to Samsung’s services like ChatOn, Samsung Link, Samsung Hub and Samsung Apps. Innovative features like Smart Stay, Smart Pause, Smart Scroll, Air Commands, Multi Window, etc. are also available.

>> Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3′s Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery has a slightly higher capacity (100 mAh more) than the one available on the Note 2. This is hardly surprising as it has to power a faster chipset and a larger display. The battery is accessible which means you’ll be able to swap in a spare unit if you’re going to be away from the charger from a long time. As far as the performance levels are concerned, it has a rated stand-by time of up to 420 hours and talk time of 21 hours on 3G networks.

>> Price

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is available in markets around the world in two color options – Black and White. You also get three storage options – 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. In the UK, the 32 GB edition comes with an off-contract price tag of £594.00, whereas in the United States, you can get it for a price of $749.99.
