Managing passwords in
Firefox
is relatively easy, but doesn't afford you the same flexibility you'll
find in Google Chrome. When you mistype a password in Chrome, you can
easily open the password manager and adjust the typo. However, in
Firefox, you only have the option to delete the saved password, and
start anew.
One perk that you will find with Firefox is a master password to protect your sensitive data. Although this is just a small hurdle for someone who is determined to get your information, it's better than the zero security options you'll find for passwords saved in Chrome. Here's how to add a master password and manage your saved passwords:
Start by clicking the main Firefox menu at the top left-hand corner and choose Options. In the pop-up menu, choose...Options! No points for creative menu systems, Firefox.
If you don't have a master password set for Firefox's sensitive data storage, you may want to consider adding one now.
Click the Saved Passwords button and enter your master password -- if you have one. Now if you want to view a password for a Web site, click the Show passwords button. Once again, you'll have to enter the master password.
Right-click on a Web site entry to copy the username or password. This is useful if you're using another Web browser in addition to Firefox, or you just want to add it to another backup utility without manually typing it in.
